How much is Troy’s operating levy on the November ballot?
The Troy City Schools will have a 5.8-mil operating levy renewal on the Nov. 3 ballot
If this levy passes, how much will it raise taxes?
Because this is a levy renewal, it will NOT increase taxes. This operating levy was first passed in 1996 and has been renewed five times since then. It last passed in May of 2021.
If it passes, how much will it cost taxpayers?
Our residential/agricultural property taxes are at the minimum amount required by law. Because of this, whether it is renewed or not, this levy will cost homeowners $9.26 per month for every $100,000 of home valuation.
What happens if the levy does not pass?
Legally, our taxes are at the lowest legal limit for homeowners, which means if the levy fails, agriculture and residential taxes will not go down. Due to business taxes being calculated differently, the Troy City Schools would lose approximately $1.5 million annually from business property taxes.
