Troy City Schools families:
Beginning Monday, March 23, the Troy City Schools will be going to an online learning platform for students while schools are closed. Students will need an electronic device (computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.) and an internet connection to participate in online learning.
We will make Chromebooks or alternate learning plans available to students who do not have a device and/or internet connection available.
Here are questions you may have about the online learning process:
May I get a Chromebook for my student?
We are loaning Chromebooks to students based on a need vs. want basis. We do have a limited supply of Chromebooks available. We ask that if your household has another device on which your student or students can learn, please do not ask to be loaned a Chromebook.
Because of the limited supply, families with more than one student are strongly encouraged to share a Chromebook instead of asking for one for each student.
These Chromebooks are being loaned out and will be collected once students return to school. To help ensure student safety, these will be filtered devices to be used only for student learning. Social media, online shopping and other inappropriate sites will be filtered and not available.
How do I get a Chromebook loaner?
Parents are encouraged to pick up Chromebooks at the school their child attends between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday (March 19) and Friday (March 20). Those who cannot pick up Chromebooks during that time may pick them up the following week between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., or by calling the school to make an appointment.

While we prefer parents pick up Chromebooks during the designated times, we also will loan them out to students, then follow up with parents soon after to make sure they know their student has received a Chromebook. We will be asking for a parent or student to sign when they pick up the Chromebook.

How do I begin online learning March 23?
Those who are taking a Chromebook loan also will receive paperwork that includes basic Chromebook instructions and how to obtain/use student username and passwords, as well as information on how to login.
Online learning begins March 23. No assignments will be due that day. Due dates will be flexible throughout this process.

Can I purchase a Chromebook?
Yes. Those who wish to purchase a Chromebook from a vendor of their choice for their student to keep permanently are encouraged to purchase an 11-inch Chromebook of any make or model.
The Troy City Schools will not be selling Chromebooks and will be collecting all loaned Chromebooks once regular classes resume.
