Troy City Schools Facemask Policy for 2021

July 30, 2021

Dear Trojan Families,

We hope that everyone has had a safe, fun and relaxing summer break!

We are very excited to welcome our students back for our first day of school on August 18th.

After much discussion and careful consideration, we have decided facial coverings will be optional for students and staff at Troy City Schools this fall.  Please note that although face coverings are optional, the Center for Disease Control and Ohio Department of Health continues to strongly recommend their use indoors.

As has been the case throughout the COVID-19 global pandemic, instructions and orders from federal, state and local health officials are subject to change. If necessary, we will adjust our procedures accordingly.

Due to a federal order that applies to all public transportation, including school buses, all passengers and drivers must wear a face covering on school buses.  To see this rule on the US Department of Transportation website visit THIS LINK.

All students and staff should continue to follow our health monitoring recommendations.  Staying home when not feeling well is an important measure that helps prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses like the flu.  Here are a list of symptoms that should cause you to seek medical advice and/or stay home from school:

  • Fever or chills

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Fatigue

  • Sore throat

  • Cough

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Diarrhea or vomiting

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever

Please continue to check for additional back-to-school updates.
