Bed Bug Info

Dear Parents:

From time to time we find the presence of bed bugs in our schools. All occurrences have been small with only a very few ever found.  The source of bed bugs often cannot be determined, as bed bugs may be found in many places including hotels, planes and movie theaters.   Even though it is unlikely for bed bugs to spread in schools, Troy Schools will conduct an inspection and, if needed, will treat the area where the bed bug was found.  Bed bugs are not known to transmit disease.

We need your help in periodically checking your child's book bag, coat and books.  Bed bugs potentially can be hiding almost anywhere. They can be in rugs, furniture or other clothing items such as shoes.

If we work together, we can cut down and control the spreading of bed bugs in our schools.

If you have any questions regarding bed bugs in your school, please contact the principal or school nurse.
