Last Dollar Grants from The Future Begins Today

Students living in the Troy City Schools district, whether or not they were are a TFBT Club student, might be eligible to apply for Last Dollar Grants! These awards are granted to students who have completed the FAFSA process and after all other awarding/scholarships have been determined. Students are able to reapply for up to five years past high school graduation and can receive up to four years of grants toward undergrad education or training. See the first page of the app to see if you meet the criteria. Check here for the application each spring! Due to TFBT by June 30 at 4 PM.

The TFBT Tuition Match Program @ Edison State is now available! Ask your guidance counselor about the possibility of receiving nearly a full ride to Edison State Community College with this opportunity through TFBT.

Troy Dollars for College

Mission Statement: Troy Dollars for College provides scholarships to graduating seniors who reside in the Troy School district and who plan to further their education at a two or four-year institution.

The Carson Scholars Fund

Awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. Scholarship winners receive the honor of being named "Carson Scholars" and are awarded an Olympic-sized medal and a trophy for their school to celebrate their accomplishments. Previous winners of Carson Scholarships are eligible to reapply for Carson Scholar Recognition annually - please visit the Current Scholar page for more information.

An interested student must be nominated by the principal at his or her school to be able to compete for a Carson Scholarship. Only one student from each school is able to apply, ensuring that each nominee epitomizes academic excellence. Carson Scholars must have a GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service. Scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic achievement and humanitarian qualities, without regard to financial need, ethnicity, creed or religion.

The Elks National Foundation

The 2018 Most Valuable Student scholarship contest is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Applications for the 2018 contest will be available online starting September 1, 2017. The 2018 MVS application deadline is November 27, 2017.

ACF Annual Visionary Scholarship Program

The ACF Annual Visionary Scholarship Program offers multiple awards, with a top prize of $5,000.  High school Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are US citizens or eligible non-citizens are invited to apply.  Financial need is NOT considered; all income levels may apply.

2018 Pioneer Scholarship Program

Pioneer Electric Cooperative is sponsoring our annual scholarship competition for high school seniors.  We have changed our competition a bit—we will be awarding one (1) $2000 scholarship, one (1) $1500 scholarship, one (1) $1000 scholarship and five (5) $500 scholarships to high school seniors.

Students can complete the form on the web and then print it out. The application forms need to be submitted to Pioneer Electric by Friday, January 26, 2018 by 5:00 pm.  Applications received in the office after this time will not be accepted. All applicants will be interviewed on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. After the deadline, applicants will be notified through their schools of their interview time.

2018 Midmark Technical Scholarship Application

Midmark Corporation is proud to offer a Technical Scholarship, in the amount of $20,000. This scholarship will

Kyle Terrian Scholarship 

The Kyle Terrian Memorial Fund was established in 2013 to remember Kyle Terrian. Kyle was a student of Bethel High School and Ohio University. Kyle passed away in 2013 from a rare and aggressive cancer.

            Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher (GPA will be verified)

Walmart Dependent Scholarship Program!

The Walmart Dependent Scholarship Program awards scholarships of up to $13,000 that can be used over the course of four academic years. Eligible applicants who complete the online application process will be evaluated based on financial need and academic achievement. Approximately 25% of all eligible applicants will receive scholarships.


Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States.
  • Must be the dependent of a Walmart associate (employee) who has been actively employed within any division of Walmart for at least six consecutive months as of April 2, 2018.
  • Must be a high school (or home school) senior graduating between August 1, 2017 and July 31, 2018 or a GED candidate earning his or her diploma between August 1, 2017 and July 31, 2018.
  • Must have a cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 on a 4-point scale (high school/home school seniors).
  • Must enroll for fall 2018 as a freshman/1st year student in a full-time program of study at a two-year or four-year college or university. The school must be an accredited U.S. institution, and listed on the official website for the U.S. Department of
    Education ( Military academies are not approved institutions.
  • Must have financial need and be able to demonstrate the need with required documents.

AFA’s 2018 Teen Scholarship Essay Contest

Alzheimer’s disease doesn’t just affect the people who have been diagnosed with it; it also affects their loved ones, caregivers and people of all ages, including children. 

Each year, AFA holds a scholarship essay contest which asks students to describe how Alzheimer’s disease changed or impacted their lives. Whether they’ve had a loved one with the disease, volunteered or worked as a caretaker or are just passionate about the cause, the next generation of leaders in the fight against Alzheimer’s have a story tell. We want to hear it! All high school seniors who are US citizens or permanent residents and plan to enter a four year college/university in 2018 are invited to take part in the 2018 contest.

Aspiring Nurse Scholarship.

Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to a future nurse in the high school graduating class of 2018.

We will award this scholarship to the applicant who best demonstrates:

+ A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics

+ A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare


This scholarship competition is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on August 31, 2018.

Karen Ingle Memorial Art Scholarship 

The Karen Ingle Memorial Art Scholarship of The Troy Foundation was established in honor of the contributions that Karen Ingle made to both her community, as well as the commercial and fine art sectors of society. Miss Ingle's talent and skill are revered today and will be far into the future by those who knew Karen and her work. Evidence of Karen's legacy of art abounds in both the public and private realms.

The William D. Squires Scholarship

The William D. Squires Scholarship is primarily financial need-based, but ideal applicants have already selected a career goal and are highly motivated to reach their goal.  The Scholarship Selection Committee also considers each student’s academic promise.

The number of scholarships has varied over the years but the award amount was consistent until the 2018-2019 school year.  It has been increased from $3,000 per year to $4,000 and is renewable.  The new scholarship award amount is renewable for a maximum total of $16,000!

If you are interested in applying, please understand that there are strict eligibility requirements. We highly recommend that you review these five requirements before printing the application.  

Eligibility Requirements to apply for The William D. Squires Scholarship:

  • Applicants must be seniors, residing in Ohio, graduating from an Ohio high school in 2018.  
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.  The EFC on your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) must be less than $7,000 to apply.  In addition, your college Financial Aid Award letter must show a minimum $4,000 need.
  • Applicants must have a specific career goal, be highly motivated, and have a burning desire to reach that career goal.
  • Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited 4 year post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis by the end of 2018.  The school of choice does not need to be in Ohio but must have a program leading to a degree in the student’s chosen field.
  • Although this is not an academically based scholarship, applicants must demonstrate academic promise and good character.  A minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA is required.

Miami County Farm Bureau Collegiate Scholarship 

The Miami County Farm Bureau is offering a $500 scholarship award to Miami County Farm Bureau members’ children, who are majoring in Agriculture. The scholarship is for the purpose of continuing higher education at a two or four year college or university.

The Miami Soil and Water Conservation District is offering two $750 scholarship awards to Miami County, Ohio residents who are majoring in Agriculture or Natural Resources. The scholarships are for the purpose of continuing higher education at a two or four year college or university. 
Applications will be accepted from students meeting the following qualifications: 

1.    Must be a Miami County, Ohio resident.
2.    Must be an Agriculture or Natural Resources major.
3.    Must be enrolled for Fall Semester of 2018.
4􀀙    CAN be a prior scholarship recipient from the Miami SWCD
5􀀝    CAN only receive sc􀀞olarship twice during one's college career.

Miami County Gem & Mineral Club Scholarship 

This $500 scholarship program is open to Miami County, OH high school seniors and the high school senior children and grandchildren of active club members residing in the state of Ohio. 
Applicants must be pursuing a degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or math) at a college or university in 2018 -2019. A focus on earth sciences is preferred, but not required. The recipient of this scholarship will also receive a free one-year membership in the Miami County Gem & Mineral Club. He or she may come back any time to talk about college coursework or to use the club's facilities. 

To qualify for the scholarship, recipients must include the following information: 

1.    Academic standing, minimum GP A: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
2.    Community service activities
3.    Financial need statement
4.    Two letters of recommendation (not from family members)
5.    A 250-300 word essay that includes
•    how the applicant formed and sustains an interest in the earth sciences, including geology, mineralogy, or science education and
•    career and education goals with an explanation of how the earth sciences will
factor into these goals.

Don't Text and Drive Scholarship

In order to be eligible for the KNR Don't Text&. Drive Scholarship, applicants must: 
􀀓 Be a United States citizen or permanent resident. 
􀀓 Be accepted to or currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or graduate program within the United States. 
􀀓 Have a cumulative GPA of3.0 or higher. 
􀀓 Demonstrate good character and high initiative.

PURPOSE: To provide a $500 Book/Media Supply Scholarship to each of two Miami County high school seniors pursuing a college degree or to a current professional continuing a degree. 
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be accepted by a two or four year accredited college and show probable success based upon completion of the enclosed application and a hard copy received by MCRTA by Friday, April 20, 2018. 
PROCEDURE: Complete the attached three-page application, attach two signed letters of recommendation applicable to Miami County Retired Teachers Association and attach a signed copy of your most recent transcript. An applicant who does not complete all guidelines outlined above, will be disqualified.

The Andrea Brown Memorial Scholarship was established by the Andrea Brown family for the purpose of assisting a college-bound Senior Band student to continue their education beyond high school.

2018 John Permenter Soccer Scholarships

The Troy Strawberry Festival Soccer Invitational, on behalf of its founder, John Permenter, is awarding this year up to six (6) one thousand dollar ($1000) scholarships to students pursuing an education beyond high school, attending 2 or 4 year colleges/universities, or technical/trade schools.

TCSSA Scholarship

Every year, TCSSA awards scholarships to children of TCSSA members, usually in the amount of $250. Deadline to return scholarship application to the Guidance Office is Friday April 13.

A few things you should know:

  • The parent/guardian must be a member of TCSSA in good standing and not been a fee payer in the last 3 years.
  • The parent/guardian must have been actively involved in a committee or elected position in TCSSA in the last 5 years.
  • The child must graduate from THS in the 2017-2018 school year.
  • The child must attend an accredited post-secondary school next year.

1. Human Resources Association of Western Ohio (HRAWO) will be issuing one scholarship to be used towards an associate’s or bachelor’s degree at an accredited university.
2. The scholarship will consist of a onetime payment of $1,000.00.
3. One scholarship for the academic year will be awarded to an incoming freshman.

Mote & Associates, Inc., Engineers and Land Surveyors, located in Greenville, Ohio established a scholarship in October of 2002 at a celebration to honor the founder of the firm, Richard Mote, for his 30 years of dedicated leadership and his passion for engineering and surveying.  The scholarship is for a commendable student seeking a post high school education or enrolled in an accredited college program in the field of engineering, surveying, architecture, or a closely related field of study.

The Drone Technology College Scholarship


The Drone Technology College Scholarship will provide two awards of $1,000 each to U.S. undergraduates who have an interest in pushing the drone industry forward, as demonstrated in an essay of 750-1,000 words. There is no cost to apply, and the only eligibility requirement is that applicants be enrolled in a U.S. college or university at the time of receiving the award. The deadline to apply is May 1st. Greater Ohio Valley Chapter of Women in Defense (WID)



Scholarship Program Intent: The Greater Ohio Valley Chapter of WID Horizons STEM Scholarship Program will support USAF military members, local high school students, and career professionals interested in pursuing degrees/certifications at colleges and universities, and satellite campuses of online Universities. Our goal is to encourage people of all ages to seek a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) disciplines and to volunteer to serve WID events and/or activities. The Greater Ohio Valley Chapter of WID Scholarship will be for up to $2,000 each.
