Help Us Choose Our New District Logo

We're asking for your help! As one of the initiatives of our 2019 strategic plan, Troy City School District is developing a refreshed logo to help clarify the district's position as an educational and community leader.

The new logo will be used for communication from the district offices. The new logo will not change our school colors or affect the high school logo or mascot.

UPDATE - Survey extended until Nov 16th.

The Troy City School District is reaching out to all community members to help the district develop a plan for the future.  That plan will set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, and ensure that employees and stakeholders are working toward common goals. This process will ensure the community and school officials can establish agreement around intended outcomes, and assess and adjust the organization’s direction in response to an ever changing environment that puts children and student learning at the center. This strategic planning process will ensure our schools will meet the needs of our students and community.

Test Preparation #3 Test Preparation #3 001.MOV

As Ohio Achievement Assessment (OAA) time approaches, I wanted to share some test taking tips from our School Counselor.  These testing strategies, combined with skills taught by their teachers can be very helpful.

No Fear   -  Focus on not being afraid and doing their best

Zap the Map  -Reminds them to pay attention to the key of a chart, graph, or map.

Jail the Detail  -  reminds the students to circle, box or underline the key words in a test question.  They can look for the key words in the reading passage or determine how to solve a math problem.

Be Prepared    - Getting a good nights rest the night before and having a good breakfast the morning of the test.

Pace Yourself- Do not rush through the test and also watching the time and making sure they are not going too slow as well.

Check it out-   This skill reminds students to check over their answers when they have completed the test, if there is time left.  If they have a bubble sheet, it’s also good to check it for stray marks.

Stop, Look, and Listen-   This reminds the students to be still, look at the test administrator, and listen to the directions.

Test Preparation #2 002.MOV

Whether you've been out of school for five years or 15, the thought of taking a test probably still makes your heart race, and palms sweat.  Now imagine what it's like for your children.  Today, testing is more frequent and taken more seriously than ever before.  Standardized tests are a fact of life for America's schoolchildren.  Help your children understand these helpful testing tips:

  • Pay Attention...Focus on Directions
  • Don't Rush...Take Your Time
  • Find The Best Answer
  • Answer Completely
  • Aim High...Work Hard
Test Preparation #1 116.MOV

“Count Week” Counts!
State funding for school is calculated using a complex formula. The amount and type of state funding a district receives from the state is determined by factoring a number of variables…One of the variable used to calculate state funding for districts is the attendance rate of the students. Simply put, the more students come to school the more funding a district may receive.
Some think that funding is based on the number of students that are enrolled in schools. This is not true! It is the percent of all students that come to school that generates the funding. For example if your school/district had 100 students, and 5 get sick, you would receive funding for 95 students. This calculation process is commonly referred to as “Count Week.”
Count Week will happen during the 1st full week in October. The student attendance for this week is used to help calculate funding for the district:
100% attendance = 100% Funding
95% attendance = 95% Funding
I am asking that every student, parent, guardian support the building in our goal of 100% attendance during this important week. Attendance is important everyday, but will be EXTREMELY important during the 1st full week in October.
If you have any questions or concerns about “Count Week,” please feel free to contact me at 332-6750.
